Type: Full Time. This is a non-supervisory position.

Job Description
The incumbent of this position must be able to perform layout, fabrication, assembly, and installation or various metal structural parts supporting propulsor components. Includes cutting and sharpening of parts, shop sub-assembly of parts and positioning alignment. Also performs chipping, caulking, huck bolt, drilling, and grinding operations on metal ship fitter work. must also operate wall/bridge crane remote control and execute tacking and burning.
Responsibilities/Knowledge include but are not limited to:
- Follow written and oral instructions, provided by work leader, or supervisor.
- Knowledge of rolls, bends, flanges, cuts, and otherwise shapes plates, beams, and other metal structures, using plate rolls, hydraulic presses, bending brakes, jogging machines, and combination punching, shearing, drilling machines and mitering machines.
- Blueprint reading, technical manuals, mechanical drawing, and geometric and trigonometric principles used in developing and laying out patterns and sketches, and knowledge of ship fitting practices, processes, and materials.
- Independently perform non-routine repair work on major tanks and compartment systems.
- Skills and accuracy in drawing sketches and in developing, laying out, and fabricating their work.
- Operate a wide variety of test equipment such as test tree, gauges, and ultrasonic detectors.
- He/she is responsible for government owned tools, and equipment. Responsibilities extend to daily routine of cleanliness for shop safety.
Qualifications
- Qualified in the use of fitting tools such as plate rolls, hydraulic presses, bending brakes, jogging machines, and combination punching, shearing, drilling machines and mitering machines
- Qualified in measurement equipment.
- Adept and accepting to work in groups of two or more.
Security Clearance / Background Check required. Your candidacy is subject to approval and acceptance.
