Material Handler (Water Spider)

Compensation: $20 to $25 Hourly

We are seeking a Material Handler (Water Spider) to ensure the continuous flow of materials between workstations in the production area. This role involves proactively delivering necessary materials and tools to operators, removing waste from workstations, and ensuring that each area is stocked with the right resources at the right time.

The Water Spider is key to maintaining an efficient and uninterrupted production process by anticipating needs, preventing bottlenecks, and ensuring smooth operation of the manufacturing line.

What The Role will Do:

Material Flow Management

  • Ensure the continuous delivery of materials and tools to workstations, avoiding production downtime.
  • Monitor and anticipate material needs to keep operations running smoothly.
  • Deliver just-in-time materials to production lines to ensure uninterrupted workflow.
  • Remove waste materials (such as scrap, empty containers, etc.) from work areas, maintaining clean and organized spaces.
  • Transport completed products or parts to the next step in the production process.

Inventory Management

  • Monitor inventory levels at workstations to ensure an adequate supply of materials.
  • Work closely with inventory management teams to track and replenish materials as needed.
  • Assist in identifying inventory discrepancies and ensure that any shortages or excess stock are addressed immediately.
  • Support inventory accuracy through consistent material movement and updates.

Process Improvement and Lean Support

  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of production processes by identifying bottlenecks or inefficiencies in material flow.
  • Suggest process improvements for better material handling, organization, and layout to support lean manufacturing principles.
  • Support the implementation of lean tools and techniques, such as 5S, to maintain an organized and efficient workspace.

Safety and Compliance

  • Ensure the safe handling and movement of materials throughout the facility.
  • Follow all safety procedures and guidelines to maintain a safe work environment for all employees.
  • Report any safety concerns related to material handling or workstation conditions.

What We’re Looking For:

  • High School Diploma/GED required
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in various shipping, receiving and warehouse processes in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in handling and processing shipments
  • Ability to operate shipping and warehouse equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Good organizational and time management skills
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities
