Shipboard Electrician II

Epsilon Systems Solutions is seeking a full-time Shipboard Electrician II in Newport News, VA

Summary: This position will provide day-to-day electrical work onboard surface ships at the Newport News Shipyard.

Duties and Responsibilities:

(a) Conducting ship check(s) to verify Automated Work Request (AWR) requirements.

(b) Assessing and repairing shipboard auxiliary and/or galley and laundry equipment.

(c) * May work as a general mechanic at times as well.

(d) Training Ship’s Force on how to accomplish AWR repairs.

(e) Researching US Navy and COTS Technical manuals and/or drawings to identify repair parts.

(f) Contacting vendors as required for parts support / technical information (as required).

(g) Looking for someone following a minimal skillset:

Ability to diagnose equipment to repair, install, and test electrical circuits, equipment, and appliances.

Ability to diagnose and repair electrical controls, industrial motor control centers, and programmable logic controllers

Familiarity with shipboard food services and laundry equipment.

Familiarity with shipboard Work Authorization Forms (WAFs), Tag Outs, and eSOMs.

Ability to read blueprints and schematics for wiring installation and work from standard and metric specifications.

Required Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent

• Minimum 4 years of experience with either shipboard marine electrical or skilled trades experience with related maintenance and repair experience

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, diagrams, or other mechanical technical data about the construction and operation of naval equipment.

• Ability to obtain and maintain a DBIDs credential and base access

  • Required to walk, stand, climb stairs, and have dexterity as well as visual skills
  • Ability to lift to 50 pounds
  • Ability to work shipboard and go up and down ladders
