Responsibilities
A General Mechanic performs the following job duties:
Qualifications
Employee must be able to perform essential job functions of this department.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Candidate must meet journey-level qualifications and possess a minimum of 3 years of solid industrial maintenance experience as a Millwright, Pipefitter, or Welder (or have equivalent experience of 5 years of verifiable work as a general Mechanic)
• Pass journey-level testing requirements.

Responsibilities
A General Mechanic performs the following job duties:
- Perform maintenance on hot/cold rolling mills, finishing equipment, and related machinery.
- Maintain and repair plant facilities and systems.
- Understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic systems
- Knowledge of power transmission components
- Welding and oxy/acetylene equipment operation
- Operate mobile equipment such as fork truck, flat beds, cranes, etc.
- Adjust, repair, lubricate and maintain plant equipment.
- Limited computer skills to order parts and input time, etc.
- Pipefitting
- Read, understand, and use blueprints.
- This position works 12-hour shifts, 6 am to 6 pm or 6 pm to 6 am.
- Shifts are assigned by Seniority.
