Position Summary
Position Summary
The Manufacturing Engineering Manager II is responsible for leading a team of manufacturing engineers within a single or multiple manufacturing sites. Oversees design implementation and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes, procedures, and equipment. Develops work assignments and operating plans for staff while ensuring work is completed on time and in compliance with manufacturing compliance standards. May oversee the development and approval of capital budgets and programs within a single facility. Typically reports to site level engineering or operations leadership.
Scope/ Supervision and Interaction
This position has supervisory responsibilities for direct reports and provides guidance or mentoring responsibilities to indirect reports.
Essential Functions
Manufacturing Process Flow - Oversees the planning and implementation of manufacturing processes equipment, and tooling. Develops and manages a portfolio of project plans, timelines, and budgets to ensure successful completion of projects. Collaborates with cross-functional leadership teams, including design, quality, and supply chain, in support of manufacturing processes improvement. Ensures compliance with all safety regulations and company policies in the manufacturing process.
Process Improvement - Develops and implements strategies to drive innovation and improve manufacturing processes and technologies. Identifies, recommends and leads improvement plans that impact site level operations. May lead cross functional teams in process improvement initiatives.
People Management - Mentors and develops team members, providing guidance and support to help them grow in their roles. Provides feedback on individual performance to staff. Ensures staff is trained appropriately to perform assigned work.
Manufacturing Systems Planning - Optimizes the utilization of manufacturing systems and metrics. Is directly involved in system upgrades and technology selection.
Budget & Expense Planning - Leads capital budgeting process and responsible for managing capital projects and capital spending. Responsible for determining resource allocation and monitoring budgetary controls within team.
Internal and/or Supplier Interaction - Communicates with Tier 1 or Tier 2 suppliers and /or internal customers to define product specifications and parameters. Engages in cross-functional collaboration to deliver manufacturing solutions in partnership with Product Engineering, Program Design, Supply Chain, and Operations.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in related Engineering field with 8+ years of experience; Advanced degree preferred
Advanced technical knowledge and ability to support new product development and/or complex problems faced by junior team members
Applies strong project management skills to daily tasks to enhance efficiencies within team and/or plant activities
Supports the development of strategic plans in coordination with Manager II's to manage and mitigate future challenges for the team and/or plant
Effective in ensuring team/plant achieves consistent execution of manufacturing processes while maintaining compliance with safety guidelines
Strong ability to analyze process flows for enhancements to quality, cost reduction, and throughput
Ability to determine engineering schedules and track completion against target dates
Strong leadership skills and ability to communicate and execute a desired vision to other employees
Well-organized, detail-oriented, and ability to multi-task
Strong prioritization skills
Proven proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, and web-browsers
