CNC Machinist

Compensation: $20 to $35 Hourly
Range is dependent on experience
The CNC Machinist operates large CNC milling machines and has the ability to fine-tune speeds and feeds so that required finishes and tolerances are achieved.
Parts are up to 80 tons and 30 meters in length.
Level 1 Machinist:
- Ability to add, subtract, divide, and multiply
- Ability to read and interpret simple production blueprints and sketches
- Set-ups: Easy lift light > 30K lb. part with good pick points, no rolling, simple prismatic part with setup sheet
- Line up and Startup: Simple lineup with proven programs and tooling
- Modify the existing program to make part to print
- Fine-tuning feed and speed by using the program
- Work with Engineer for the machining process
- Makes rough cuts, & verifies progress with precision measuring instruments
- Break sharp corners after machining to ensure proper alignment of subsequent machining & safety of personnel when handling
- Low tolerance finishing (Ra<6.3 and tolerance < +/- .03in.)
- Inspection Tools: Use measuring tools tool to check the work being performed, Scale, Tape measure, 0 to 5 " OD Mic, Depth Mic., Dial Calipers
- Tool Setting: Load tools into machine, Index and change tooling when tool become dull, Assist Tool Setter in assembling and determining what tools are needed to be set for the machine
Level 2 Machinist:
- Ability to solve more advanced problems and apply them to the job, Simple Trig, Speeds, and Feeds, and solve print math
- Blueprint reading: the ability to read Ingersoll machine prints, tolerances, and a basic understanding of GDT
- Set-ups: Parts with weight > 60K lb. Lifting and rolling simple prismatic parts, setup and lineup of rough and finished Ingersoll parts
- Line up and startup of 3 or 4-axis parts. Set stock and check stock conditions. Prof new programs and tooling.
- Feed rate/speed/RPM for quality part, G and M codes
- Create and use advanced machine programming
- Ability to calculate and edit speed and feed, work with programming
- Makes necessary adjustments & complete machining operations
- Higher tolerance finishing (All Ra finishes with Tolerances > +/- .010)
- Inspection Tools: Use ID Mic, OD Mic., Height Gages, Go, NO-Go gages, Dial Bore Gages, Use machine to check sizes and location 3 axis.
- Assemble and gauge all tools per TDM and on the fly tools as needed to complete machine operation. Work with engineering in tool selection and usage.

Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods they are standing, kneeling, bending, and climbing ladders or scaffolding.
- Must be able to lift up to 60lbs daily.
- Must be able to lift 100lbs weekly.
