Garrett Metal Detectors is a worldwide leader in the research, development and manufacture of metal detection products for the security, hobby/sport, and countermine/ERW markets. Garrett is an international standards organization (ISO) 9001, 14001 and 45001 certified manufacturer with its headquarters located in Garland, Texas. Garrett started operations in 1964 and is a privately owned U.S. company. Garrett owns numerous patents, including the first patent devoted to using microprocessors for metal detection. All products are designed and produced in the United States and incorporate state-of-the-art technology.

We are looking for a full time Buyer to work ON-SITE Monday-Friday in our Garland location to perform the following functions.

1. Investigate, choose, and purchase high quality items and materials.
2. Procure and schedule materials and services to meet need of manufacturing.
3. Negotiate price and delivery of assigned components and commodities.
4. Maintain a strategic understanding of the marketplace.
5. Read, analyze, and interpret technical documents.
6. Work closely with engineering on prototypes and Research and Development projects.
7. Write information and respond to questions from managers, clients, and suppliers.
8. Assist other buyers in sourcing best price/ best quality items.
9. Identify manufacturing needs.
10. Examine quality of the stock and reporting anomalies to suppliers and management.

Required Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree or equivalent in supply chain management, business, manufacturing engineering, manufacturing technology, or related field with a minimum of one to three years of experience.

Special Skills and Qualifications

1. Previous experience working with an ERP preferred
2. Intermediate Microsoft Office skills
3. Critical thinking skills along with the ability to negotiate
4. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal in English

Work Environment

1. Well-lighted, heated and/or air-conditioned indoor production setting with adequate ventilation and moderate noise
2. May work with or near moving mechanical equipment

Physical Demands

Minimal physical activity performing non-strenuous daily activities of an office/clerical nature to work from a sitting or standing position.

1. Manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items and work with the fingers
2. Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, crouch
3. Must be able to sit for long periods of time
4. Must be able to lift up to ten pounds, with or without assistance
