Ampco Pumps is a fast-growing manufacturer of centrifugal pumps, positive displacement pumps and mixing & blending equipment used in the food and dairy industries, desalination, and various chemical and industrial applications.
We are seeing a highly-motivated Assembly Technician to join our Ampco Applied Products (AAP) team.
The AAP Assembly Technician is responsible for assembling and testing large mixing and blending equipment in a job-shop type environment following ISO procedures and specific instructions.

We are seeing a highly-motivated Assembly Technician to join our Ampco Applied Products (AAP) team.
The AAP Assembly Technician is responsible for assembling and testing large mixing and blending equipment in a job-shop type environment following ISO procedures and specific instructions.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Read and interpret assembly prints, schematics, specifications, and work instructions to build mixing and blending equipment from start to finish.
- Assemble, align, and install components including shafts, bearings, gears, seals, and drive motors.
- Measure and adjust critical fits, clearances, and shaft runout to ensure proper operation.
- Wire electrical panels and equipment.
- Test completed equipment and maintain a clean engineering lab/work area.
- Work with engineering to modify or rework equipment as needed for fit and performance.
- Operate overhead cranes and forklifts to move and assemble equipment when required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills
- Basic math (add, subtract, multiply, divide), mechanical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read and understand assembly prints, schematics, measuring instruments, and other manufacturing instructions.
- Experience using hand tools, power tools, hoists, and precision measuring equipment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to work independently on complex or custom machinery.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience with electrical wiring, controls, and/or PLCs preferred.
Education/Experience
- High school diploma or GED required; technical or vocational training in mechanical, electrical, or industrial technology preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in mechanical assembly, machine building, or industrial equipment manufacturing preferred.
- Previous experience in a custom manufacturing or job-shop environment preferred.
Physical Requirements
- While performing the duties and responsibilities of this position, the employee is required to stand at his/her work bench for the majority of the day without rest.
- The employee may be required to lift up to 50 pounds on occasion.
- Specific vision requirements for this position include close vision, and depth perception.
