Position Overview: The Radiographer Level I role is to perform production radiography on castings and weldment using radioactive isotopes and high energy X-Ray in compliance with State of Washington regulations and plant policy and procedures, and to achieve the business unit's mission and business plan.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with State of Washington and organizational health, safety, and environmental rules and regulations
- Review customer specification requirements within the B&L system
- Establish and implement radiographic techniques on castings and weldments in accordance with customer specifications
- Review completed radiographs for compliance with technical specifications and applicable acceptance criteria
- Complete required paperwork to support radiographic inspection and Washington State DOH requirements
- Assist with guidance and training of Radiographer Trainees
- Actively support and participate in Vulcan Metals Safety Program
- Alert supervisor to any safety or quality issues needing attention
- Recommend process improvements
Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to read and understand specifications (i.e. ASME, military, etc) and develop compliant radiographic techniques and document accordingly
Qualifications:
- Previous or current SNT-TC-1A Level I certification and IRRSP certification
- Must be able to provide previous exposure records upon request
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Self-motivated and able to work independently
Physical Requirements:
- Able to walk on uneven surfaces
- Able to lift 60 pounds
- Able to twist, stoop, bend, and stand in the performance of job duties
- Able to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Must be capable of passing a near vision (Jaeger 1) eye exam with corrected or uncorrected vision and a brightness discrimination exam
- Physically able to work in a restricted radiation area
Special Requirements:
- This position requires the individual to work in a restricted radiation area. Although exposures are well below those allowed by the Federal limits imposed by 10CFR20.1201, the individual will receive a dose of ionizing radiation while on the job and will be required to be monitored by a dosimetry badge
- Increased controls mandated by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and Washington State require the individual to pass a background investigation including fingerprinting.
- Rigorous background screening with periodic updating will be done by Vulcan Metals to qualify the individual for this position and maintain that eligibility
Pay Range: $33.67 - $35.22/hour (Depending on experience) *swing shift differential*
Shift: Monday - Friday, 6:00am - 2:30pm or 2:30pm-11:00pm
