Position Summary
We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to work out of our Milwaukee Service Center. The primary responsibility of this role is to indirectly lead cross-functional teams in developing and improving repair methods and manufacturing processes for power generation equipment. Drive efficiency and capability enhancements by optimizing existing processes and introducing new technologies, tools, and equipment. Provide technical feedback to improve component and repair processes, particularly for steam turbine and generator systems. Partner with internal teams to support bid reviews, quoting, design evaluations, and customer interactions.

Work Environment
The majority of this work takes place in an office and the work environment is that of a typical office environment in a manufacturing setting where noise levels are usually moderate. Frequently the employee will interact with personnel in the plant where he/she may be exposed to higher noise levels.

Essential Duties
- Work with programmers, ME's, and shop supervision in defining optimal processes, tooling, and fixturing for machining of new parts.
- Develop processes and methods to be used by shop personnel in repair of generator equipment and steam turbine equipment with emphasis on efficiency, quality and safety.
- Support develop and testing of new machining processes for steam turbine and generator service projects.
- Develop, design and implement new tooling and fixturing for use in shop work
- Support in the quoting process for generators and parts, attend bid review meetings and support scheduling of upcoming work for planning.
- Interface between the shop and engineering department on technical issues associated with machining and manufacturing new or repair parts.
- Be a team leader in facility, process, safety, and organizational improvements applying 5S and six sigma methodologies.
- Support the project managers in reviewing bid specification, quoting various machining activities, and determining machining schedule durations.
- Represent production planning during bid-no bid meetings, bid reviews, and customer meetings
- Address non-conformance issues and provide technical expertise in root cause and corrective action plans
- Support in training of new planners, engineers, and operators on current processes and methods.
- Application of Lean principles to reduce waste and increase throughput
Education and Required Experience
- Bachelor's degree required. Preferred degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering.
- 5+ years experience required in a manufacturing environment
- Proficiency utilizing manufacturing systems preferable Oracle EBS system.
- Capable of operating a PC system in a network environment.
- Experience in a service environment preferred.
- Hands on experience in machine operation, machine setup and troubleshooting required.
- Experience working with tooling and equipment vendors to specify and purchase equipment required.
- AutoCAD or solid works experience required
Skills:
- Must have strong organizational skills.
- Proficient with MS Office- Outlook. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project
- Must be able to generate clear and concise proposal, reports, procedures and work instructions.
- Must be a strong communicator and be able to work with shop management and all employees on jobs, processes and projects.
- Able to communicate and work with shop management and project managers to incorporate specific engineering and customer requirements into the production process.
- Must be a team leader capable of leading the team to a common goal/objective
- Lead continuous improvement projects
