- Create, edit, and optimize CNC programs using G-code and CAM software (e.g., CamWorks, Mastercam, Fusion 360, GibbsCAM).
- Must be able to program CNC 3-axis and 5-axis mills using Cam software.
- Reading complex prints, designs, able to transfer in and out of CNC machines
- Work from drawings, sketches, specifications and verbal instructions to make parts.
- Must be able to navigate Solidworks well, while being able to design and edit models using Solidworks.
- Must be able to read G & M code.
- Must also be able to program and operate one or more of the following Specialty machines: CNC Grinder, High Speed Mills or Wire EDMs'.
- Must be capable and willing to train other machinists, showing them the proper way to use common shop Machine tools and inspection equipment
- Work to close tolerances
- Able to inspect own machined components using precision measuring instruments to check accuracy of work
- Setup machines for operation by others
- Keep work area and equipment clean
- Able to adapt to a fast-paced environment
- Able to work independently on projects with little assistance.
- And other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Qualifications include:
- High School Diploma, or equivalent
- 3-5 years' experience in a machine shop
- Knowledge of precision measuring devices
- The ability to interpret engineering drawings, blueprints and sketches
- Must have at least 3 years CNC mill programming experience
- CAMWorks and SolidWorks proficient
- A proven mechanical aptitude
- Advanced shop mathematics skills
- Broad knowledge of machine shop practices
- Ability to trouble-shoot and problem solve
- Strong work ethic and follow through
- Work is subject to process and final inspection
- Must consistently use safety devices when operating machines
- Attention to detail a must
- Must have a good attendance record
- Must be able to work well with others in the shop
