We are seeking a high-energy, driven individual who can work independently while collaborating effectively with customers, vendors, and team members. In this role, you will provide service support for a broad range of pump products designed to meet virtually every fluid handling need.
As a Service Repair Mechanic, you will represent a best-in-class pump distributor while working alongside a team of certified technicians who provide unmatched service throughout the Northeast region. Our service team is often the first point of contact for customers, making this position critical to maintaining the strong relationships Hayes Pump has built over the years.
Each Service Repair Mechanic is provided with a company vehicle and specialty tools required for specific applications. Technicians supply their own daily-use hand tools, allowing them to work with the equipment they know best.

Job Responsibilities
- Represent Hayes Pump professionally at all times.
- Travel daily to customer sites to evaluate, troubleshoot, and repair pumps and related equipment.
- Perform preventative maintenance and repair services on pumps and associated systems.
- Support pump start-ups, including setup and operational programming.
- Complete service reports accurately and promptly using the company CRM system.
- Evaluate pump products in the service shop and prepare repair recommendations and estimates.
- Perform pump repairs, rebuilds, and maintenance within the shop environment.
- Communicate repair findings and recommendations to customers and internal teams.
- Participate in a rotating on-call schedule to provide after-hours support.
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
- Complete all work activities with safety as the top priority.
Required Qualifications
- Experience working directly with customers in a service or repair environment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations and safe work practices; OSHA 10 certification preferred.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in confined spaces as needed.
- Basic computer skills, including email, internet usage, and electronic reporting systems.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Technical or trade school training in a mechanical field preferred.
- Valid driver's license with an insurable driving record.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a field-based environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years of commercial or municipal centrifugal pump repair experience.
- 5+ years of experience servicing positive displacement pumps, including rotary lobe, progressive cavity, diaphragm, and metering pumps.
- Experience with Goulds, Xylem, Gorman-Rupp, Fairbanks Morse, Grundfos, Viking, Aurora, or similar pump manufacturers.
- Knowledge of electrical controls and wiring.
- Previous field service experience working at customer locations.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to travel overnight on occasion as required.
- Willingness to participate in ongoing factory and manufacturer training programs.
