SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE

The Buyer will be responsible for planning and controlling activities relating to the procurement of raw materials, purchased finished goods, equipment, and supplies used in the manufacture of division products. The position works closely with production scheduling and within related MRP systems to ensure the prompt ordering and delivery of material to meet customer requirements. The position also assists with supplier identification and negotiations as well as working closely with the Purchasing Manager on ordering stream and inventory control.

• Responsible for placing purchase orders for materials consumed in multiple manufacturing locations.
• Resolves purchase order issues including clarification, processing paperwork for substitutions, or modifications associated with the purchase order.
• Loads and maintains part information into PREF and Great Plains.
• Works closely with many different departments and plants to assure that proper communications is relayed to CWS personnel as well as suppliers, especially during the change order process. In many instances, this person works closely with both internal customers (maintenance, engineering, factory, and office personnel) and suppliers. Assumes responsibility for resolving problems within defined limits, related to orders.
• Assists with the expediting of orders to ensure on-time delivery where necessary.
• Responsible for communication with manufacturing and suppliers on delinquent orders. Resolution of the issue will be attempted initially, and other resources will be contacted as needed.
• Assist physical inventory and cycle count programs.
• Other duties may be assigned.

TECHNICAL SKILLS OR CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED

• Relevant warehouse experience within the last 5 years
• Recent experience with Cycle counting/inventory.
• Excellent communication skills
• Strong attention to detail
• Basic understanding of inventory control procedures
• Extremely organized and able to work with minimum supervision.
• Kaizen/5-S experience
• MRP System experience
• Computer skills, experience with Microsoft word, excel, power point, and outlook

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Associate or bachelor's degree preferred.
• In-depth knowledge of PREF Purchasing system

• Ability to communicate effectively through written or oral communication with internal and external personnel.
• Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
• Temperatures within the plant fluctuate based on weather as the plant is not climate controlled.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Must be able to bend, lift, squat, twist, stand and move repetitively for 8-10 hours a day.
• Capable of lifting a minimum of 50 pounds and occasionally working in various adverse conditions such as temperature to complete work assignments.
• PPE Required: Safety Glasses and Hearing Protection on manufacturing floor.

TRAVEL

5% travel is expected for this position to alternate sites and suppliers based on business needs.
