Job Summary
The Machine Operator is responsible for setting up and operating fabrication equipment to cut, bend, saw, and punch steel parts used in downstream assembly operations. This role plays a key part in maintaining efficient production flow while supporting continuous improvement, quality, and safety initiatives.

The Machine Operator is responsible for setting up and operating fabrication equipment to cut, bend, saw, and punch steel parts used in downstream assembly operations. This role plays a key part in maintaining efficient production flow while supporting continuous improvement, quality, and safety initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate fabrication machines to produce steel components according to specifications
- Read and interpret job travelers, blueprints, and work instructions to ensure accurate machine setup and part quality
- Support continuous improvement and Lean initiatives by following established process flows, maintaining flexibility, and contributing improvement ideas
- Move raw materials and finished parts between work centers using appropriate equipment
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
- Collaborate with team members across departments to meet production schedules and company goals
- Perform other duties as assigned to support operations
- Plasma tanks and Messer Plasma Table
- Brake presses, drill presses, saws, and iron worker
- Overhead hoists and forklift trucks
- Computers for basic data entry
- Hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring devices (micrometers, T-squares, etc.)
- Safety glasses
- Safety shoes with metatarsal guards
- Ear protection
- Gloves
- Tinted face shield
- Additional PPE as required
- Heavy industrial manufacturing environment
- Exposure to grease, oil, heat, humidity, and occasional wet or confined conditions
- Standing and working on concrete surfaces for extended periods
- Basic math skills required to set up and operate machines accurately
- Ability to manually handle materials up to 50 lbs., including lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, and bending
- Ability to push and pull up to 100 lbs. when using overhead hoists
- Ability to read and understand job specifications, blueprints, measuring devices, and detailed instructions
- Basic computer skills for data entry and production tracking
- Strong spatial awareness and wide field of vision to safely coordinate movement of materials with coworkers
- Ability to stand and work in various physical positions for several hours at a time
- Team-oriented mindset with the ability to work effectively with coworkers, other departments, and potentially other TBEI facilities
- Willingness and ability to learn and rotate between multiple machines or jigs as needed to support production schedules and safety requirements
- Ability to maintain a reasonable production pace while meeting quality standards and customer deadlines
- Flexibility to work overtime as required
- Commitment to working safely at all times by following safety procedures, wearing required PPE, reporting hazards, and submitting maintenance requests
- Wage Range: $20.00-$24.00 per hour + $2.50/hour shift differential
- Pay Type: Non-exempt, hourly; paid bi-weekly

Schedule: Four (4) 10-hour shifts, Monday-Friday
- Overtime may be available on the 5th day and/or Saturdays
