Rogers Group is seeking an experienced Quality Control Technician to support our Asphalt Quality Department. This position is responsible for performing laboratory and field testing, assisting with asphalt mix designs, monitoring material quality, and ensuring compliance with company and DOT specifications. The ideal candidate will have experience with asphalt materials, aggregate testing, and asphalt mix design procedures.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform quality control testing on asphalt mixtures, aggregates, and related materials.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of asphalt mix designs.
- Collect and test material samples from asphalt plants, stockpiles, and job sites.
- Monitor production to ensure compliance with DOT and company specifications.
- Analyze test results and communicate findings to plant and operations personnel.
- Maintain accurate testing records and quality control documentation.
- Troubleshoot material and mix quality issues as needed.
- Ensure laboratory equipment is properly maintained and calibrated.
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; technical degree in construction materials, engineering technology, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in asphalt quality control, materials testing, or asphalt mix design.
- Knowledge of asphalt mix design principles, aggregate testing, and DOT specifications.
- Experience with laboratory and field testing procedures.
- Ability to interpret test results and make recommendations for quality improvements.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and basic data entry/reporting systems.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to travel to asphalt plants, quarries, and construction sites as needed.
