Overview
This supervisory position is responsible for technical leadership and cost/schedule management of the SONAR Hull Arrays group. This group's tasks focus on the design/development/acquisition of the VIRGINIA (VA) and COLUMBIA Class hull array systems, working with a broad customer base of government program offices, Participating Managers (PARMs) and NUWC personnel while leading advanced SONAR array design and development for Large Bow Array (LAB), Light Weight Wide Aperture Array (LWWAA) and High Frequency Chin Array (HFCA).

This group's tasks focus on the design/development/acquisition of the VIRGINIA (VA) and COLUMBIA Class hull array systems, working with a broad customer base of government program offices, Participating Managers (PARMs) and NUWC personnel while leading advanced SONAR array design and development for Large Bow Array (LAB), Light Weight Wide Aperture Array (LWWAA) and High Frequency Chin Array (HFCA).
Specific areas of responsibility include:
- Design, development, installation, test and in-service support of the VA and COLUMBIA SONAR systems
- Plans and runs multi-organization meetings such as integrated product teams (IPTs)
- CFE procurement of LWWAA and HFCA and various parts of the LAB array
- Serves as the SONAR Hull Arrays technical lead responsible for coordinating platform level assessments of changes in the applicable SONAR systems
- Responsible for the drawings and design disclosures related to SONAR for VA and COLUMBIA
- Responsible for numerous customer interfaces, including NAVSEA, navy labs, and numerous subcontractors.
- Responsible for applicable CONFORM and IRAD efforts
- Responsible for supporting fleet LARs for SSBN, SSGN and VA Classes
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical or Ocean Engineering (or similar) required.
- 8+ years of submarine project management and engineering experience is required
- An in-depth knowledge of submarine NPES/Combat Systems, LAB array, LWWAA, and HFCA
- A good working knowledge of earned value management systems (EVMS), ARTEMIS, Manpower plan, and contracts is required
- Strong subcontractor management experience is required
- Knowledge of CATIA, NX, ER Workflow (JCALS) and MRPII is required
- Secret clearance (w/ ability to obtain top secret) is required, top secret clearance is desirable
- Knowledge or SONAR array design is required
Preferred:
- Advanced technical degree with concentration in electronic system integration or acoustics is desirable.
- Previous supervisory experience is preferred.
