You will be the Optics Manufacturing Engineer for the Missiles and Fire Control (MFC) team. Our team is responsible for delivering best‑in‑class optical components and systems-using optical grinding/polishing, precision fabrication, and lean manufacturing-to meet demanding defense missions.

MUST BE A U.S. CITIZEN - This position is located at a facility that requires special access.
Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelors in Mechanical, Optical Engineering or related discipline from an accredited college.
• Experience with CAD software, creating mechanical drawings, and knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
• Hands on Optics Manufacturing or Manual/CNC machining experience.
• Must be a US Citizen. This position is located at a facility that requires special access.
Desired Skills:
• Machining experience: CNC milling and turning, and CAM.
• Experience working in a production environment, including creation and upkeep of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and working with represented and non-represented employees.
• The use of a multitude of metrology platforms such as CMM's and advanced optical metrology, including stitching interferometry for large-aperture optics, white light interferometry, and both contact and non-contact profilometry.
• Experience with Excel VBA, Python, or MATLAB programming languages.
• Demonstrated project ownership and management, as well as collaboration tools such as Confluence, Jira, etc.

Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week

- Designing, documenting, and sustaining manufacturing and test plans for non‑recurring effort (NRE) projects, then transitioning those plans into full‑rate production.
- Applying lean manufacturing techniques to reduce cost, improve yield, and streamline workflow.
- Investigating root‑cause of failures or defects, implementing corrective actions, and driving continuous‑improvement initiatives.
- Managing tooling, manufacturing aids, and capital equipment requirements throughout the product lifecycle.
