Machine Operator- 2nd Shift
Metals USA has an immediate opening for a Machine Operator - 2nd shift in the Oakwood, GA location. The Machine Operator regularly performs routine to moderately advanced production activities requiring demonstrated skill and competency in production processes and machine operation acquired through an apprenticeship and/or considerable training.

Working Conditions
Employee will work in an open warehouse the majority (98%) of the time and will be exposed to some or all of the following working conditions: extreme heat and cold, noise, vibration, oils and atmospheric conditions such as dust, fumes and metallic particles. Employee will be exposed to the hazards of working with heavy machinery. Employee is required to wear a hard hat, safety glasses, gloves and safety boots. The Company furnishes initial hard hat, gloves and safety glasses. The employee furnishes safety boots at own expense.

Physical Requirements
In a typical workday, employee is standing, walking, seeing, hearing, grasping, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, talking, lifting work pieces weighing up to forty (40) lbs. manually or by crane to work area and positioning it for processing the orders. Must wear proper PPE (hard hat, steel toes, protective eyewear, hand protection, arm guards/sleeves, hearing protection, etc.)

The Machine Operator regularly performs routine to moderately advanced production activities requiring demonstrated skill and competency in production processes and machine operation acquired through an apprenticeship and/or considerable training.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Positions work pieces for processing, operating a single point machine to process work pieces by cutting, sawing and grinding.
- Uses gauges, calipers indicators or rulers for measurement.
- Programs machine from standard drawing file.
- Operates overhead crane.
- Determines processing specifications such as materials, tool requirements, dimensions and tolerances by reviewing blueprints, orders, or other written specifications.
- Installs and aligns specified blades, and fixtures using gauges, templates, feelers, shims or hand tools.
- Observes machine operation to detect work piece defects or machine malfunction.
- Adjusts controls to set cutting speed, depth and feed rates.
- Performs minor machine maintenance such as oiling machines, dies or work pieces.
- Complies with company and OSHA safety policies and safe work practices.
- Regular and predictable attendance is required to perform the duties of a saw operator.

- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum 18 years of age
- Ability to read work order instructions, safety and policy manuals
- Measuring skills to read English & Metric systems and a tape measure, caliper or micrometer
- Arithmetic skills to calculate and convert decimals and fractions
- Knowledge of Microsoft Windows software (loading design to be burned)
- Minimum one (1) year experience as a machine operator
- Knowledge of matching procedures
- Experience operating an overhead crane / forklift operator preferred
- Demonstrated manual dexterity, finger dexterity, arm-hand steadiness, and multi-limb coordination
- Valid OSHA forklift certification
- Candidate must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen
