San Diego Powder & Protective Coatings is a fast-paced, family-owned coatings contractor with over 25 years of experience and a workforce of 75+ skilled professionals serving both military and civilian clients. We are seeking a highly motivated Sandblaster. This position involves performing abrasive blasting to support the preservation, repair, and maintenance of a wide variety of parts including naval vessels and marine support equipment.

Responsibilities and Duties:
• Primary responsibility is to sand blast various metal products, some new fabrication and some uncoated to the customer’s desired surface preparation; C-7 Certification is a bonus.
• Be able to understand the differences in blast grades; SP-6, SP-10, SP-16.
• Have an understanding of blasting air pressures and nozzle sizes.
• Cleaning/maintaining inspection of blast hoses, blast pot, and associated equipment.
• Manual labor aspect; cleaning blast rooms, shoveling, sweeping, moving parts in and out.
• Sanding, masking, and hanging products while inspecting conditions of materials before and after blasting.
• Being able to identify material discrepancies.
Requirements:
• Must be at least 18 years old, pass E-VERIFY authorization, and pre-employment drug test.
• Prove strong work ethic and consistent on time attendance.
• Must be able to read and write in English and have basic math skills.
• Must be able to understand quality standards, adhere to specific written/drawing instructions and specification.
• Must follow compliance and safety requirements/standards, including use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) daily.
• Must be able to work in outside weather conditions (hot, cold, wet and/or humid). Most job requirements take place in the warehouses, but some duties are outside the buildings and require lifting/moving of 10-25 pounds and occasionally lifting/moving up to 50 pounds.
