Overview
This position is responsible for the technical cognizance of analytical methods performed within the Metrology laboratories at Electric Boat and all off site operations. This entails, but is not limited to: Providing engineering oversight and support to MTC and MDA personnel for the inspection, calibration and repair of both nuclear and non-nuclear shipboard components as well as shipyard test equipment in the Dimensional, Flow, Physical, Optical, and Electronics Standards Laboratories. Ensuring calibrations are performed in accordance with standard practices and traceability to NIST is maintained. Maintaining the laboratories standards and supporting equipment. Developing and documenting manual and automated calibration procedures. Assuming overall responsibility for department quality by performing quality assurance audits and instituting processes to eliminate recurring errors. Interfacing with shipyard and other organizations to develop methods and problem resolutions. Complying with relevant health, safety, and environmental requirements.
The candidate must be able to access the Submarines/Construction areas. Travel, off shift support, and overtime should be expected. The candidate must be able to adjust quickly and comfortably to emergent needs and changing priorities.

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's of Science degree in Engineering in Electrical, Mechanical, or Physics
- 1-5 years of post graduate engineering experience
Preferred Requirements:
- 2+ years of engineering experience
- Laboratory/testing experience
- Metrology Experience
Skills
- Candidate must be highly organized, self-motivated, work independently, and able to effectively support difficult production schedules.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills are necessary.
