Job Summary
Hydraulics International, Inc. (HII) is seeking a detail-oriented and results-driven Buyer to support the company's purchasing and supply chain activities. The Buyer is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and procuring the goods, materials, and services required to support company operations.
This position ensures purchases are cost-effective, meet established quality requirements, and are delivered on schedule. The Buyer will work closely with suppliers and internal departments to manage purchasing priorities, maintain appropriate inventory levels, resolve supply issues, and identify cost-saving opportunities.

The Buyer will work closely with suppliers and internal departments to manage purchasing priorities, maintain appropriate inventory levels, resolve supply issues, and identify cost-saving opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify purchasing requirements for materials, components, supplies, and services based on production and operational needs.
- Source, evaluate, and qualify suppliers based on pricing, quality, delivery performance, capacity, and reliability.
- Develop and maintain professional relationships with vendors and suppliers.
- Negotiate pricing, contracts, lead times, payment terms, and other purchasing conditions to achieve the best overall value for the company.
- Prepare, issue, and manage purchase orders while ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Monitor open purchase orders and follow up with suppliers to ensure materials and services are delivered on time.
- Communicate and resolve issues involving late deliveries, shortages, pricing discrepancies, damaged materials, and quality concerns.
- Monitor inventory levels to help prevent material shortages, excess inventory, and production delays.
- Evaluate supplier performance and recommend corrective action or alternative suppliers when necessary.
- Review purchasing data, spending trends, and supplier performance to identify cost-reduction opportunities.
- Conduct market research to remain informed of pricing trends, material availability, lead times, and alternative products or suppliers.
- Maintain accurate purchasing records, including purchase orders, contracts, pricing agreements, supplier documentation, and performance reports.
- Ensure purchasing activities comply with company policies, ethical standards, contractual requirements, and applicable industry regulations.
- Collaborate with Production, Planning, Engineering, Quality, Finance, Shipping, Receiving, and other departments to support operational requirements.
- Perform other related duties and projects as assigned.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Procurement, or a related field preferred.
- Two to five years of purchasing, procurement, supply chain, or related experience.
- Purchasing experience within a manufacturing, aerospace, defense, or industrial environment is preferred.
- Professional procurement certification, such as CPSM or CIPS, is a plus.

- Ability to analyze pricing, purchasing data, inventory levels, and market trends.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with excellent attention to detail.
