Rogers Group is currently seeking a Plant Mechanic in the Staunton, VA area for our Virginia SMA quarry operations, reporting directly to the Plant Manager. The successful candidate will have a very strong mechanical skillset and be able to work with little or no supervision while performing complex maintenance and fabrication on fixed plants.

Rogers Group is currently seeking a Plant Mechanic in the Staunton, VA area for our Virginia SMA quarry operations, reporting directly to the Plant Manager. The successful candidate will have a very strong mechanical skillset and be able to work with little or no supervision while performing complex maintenance and fabrication on fixed plants.
Job Details:
- Wages starting at $18/hour for entry level candidates. Wages may be higher based on experience. Some positions require training and Rigers will train.
- Inspect equipment for safety and mechanical deficiencies.
- Maintain equipment in accordance with manufactures recommendations and industry practice to minimize down time and cost efficacy.
- Keep written record of equipment conditions and repairs through work order systems
- Repair equipment as needed in accordance with manufacturer's recommendations.
- Maintain inventories of repair parts to minimize downtime.
- Organize storage and warehouses to maximize efficiency.
- Clean up after completing repairs in accordance with site policy.
- Will be accountable for maintaining a safety culture in line with corporate policy.
Qualifications:
- High School or Equivalent preferred.
- Must have minimum of four years' maintenance experience in a mining or construction environment, preferably in the aggregates industry.
- Must have knowledge of pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical and mechanical systems.
- Knowledge of all types of equipment used in the aggregates industry.
- Ability to reason through difficult operations/maintenance problems, resolve said problems and/or relate same to others.
- Knowledge of store room and tool room procedures.
- Ability to remove and install guards and other equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to use tools such as impact plant wrenches up to 2" drive torque wrenches, hand and power tools and sledge hammers up to 12 hours.
- Knowledgeable of MSHA standards and requirements.
- Knowledge of hazards associated with areas of responsibility.
- Must be able to read gauges & keep accurate records of operating procedures and maintenance history. Ability to do mechanical assembly and fabrication.
- Ability to read and understand equipment manuals pertaining to operation, parts, maintenance and assembly (schematics as needed).
- Ability to operate maintenance trucks, forklifts and man lifts (standard and automatic).
- Ability to read forms, signage, and write up basic reports on equipment, etc.
- Must have excellent work ethic and safety record.
- Ability to participate in and deliver tool box talks.
- Ability to perform job safety risk assessments.
- Ability to clean up the work place after the job.
- Ability to ensure good housekeeping in the shop and in the plant.
- Consistently good attitude and behavior.
- Must understand and comply with lock-out procedure and all safety requirements.
- Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen.
Physical Requirements:
- Physical requirements include visual acuity, speech and hearing, hand and eye coordination, standing, sitting, walking, climbing stairs, climbing on equipment, bending, stooping, crouching, kneeling, pushing, pulling, reaching, twisting, balancing, climbing on equipment, working at heights up to 350 feet, repetitive motion, and squatting - all for extended periods of time (up to 12 hours) to perform the essential functions.
- Must be able to use proper Personal Protective Equipment as required.
- Must be able to walk/stand on uneven ground, walkways and catwalks throughout the work day.
- Manually position crane lifted parts and equipment.
- Must be able to physically lift up to 75 lbs. parts waist high for mounting into position.
- Ability to work in tight areas to install and handle heavy parts.
Working Conditions:
- Must work outside in all weather conditions: heat, cold, dust, and wet a minimum of 8 hrs. per day. Work in high noise level areas while wearing proper PPE. May have exposure to dust, diesel exhaust, lubricants, solvents, various fuels, etc. This is not a shop mechanic position.
- Must be able to work overtime as required by job.
- Must be able to work days or nights as required by job.
