Electric Motor Mechanic / Industrial Motor Technician

Louis Allis | Full-Time

Two Shift Options

1st Shift: Monday-Friday | 6:00 AM-2:30 PM

2nd Shift: Monday-Thursday | 2:30 PM-1:00 AM - 3-Day Weekend

Pay: based on experience

Louis Allis is growing, and we're looking for experienced Electric Motor Mechanics / Industrial Motor Technicians to join our team.

This is a hands-on position for someone who enjoys mechanical work, troubleshooting, precision measurement, and seeing a repair through from teardown to final testing.

You'll work on industrial electric motors in a clean, team-oriented shop with the equipment and support needed to do quality work.

Electric motor experience is preferred. [Strong industrial mechanical experience will also be considered, and we can train the right candidate on motor-specific processes.]
What You'll Do

You'll be involved in the complete electric motor repair process, including:
  • Disassemble and inspect industrial electric motors
  • Determine repair needs and help identify causes of failure
  • Measure bearing fits and other machined surfaces using micrometers and calipers
  • Assemble new and repaired electric motors
  • Dynamically balance rotors
  • Perform winding and insulation testing
  • Take vibration readings and perform laser alignments
  • Perform final run testing on completed motors
  • Document inspection results, measurements, and completed work
  • Assist with fabrication and TIG welding as needed
  • Prepare and paint completed motors
  • Assist with field service at customer locations when needed
  • Work with other members of the shop to complete repairs safely and on schedule
What We're Looking For
  • Mechanical aptitude and hands-on industrial experience
  • Experience assembling and disassembling mechanical equipment
  • Ability to accurately use micrometers, calipers, and other measuring equipment
  • Electric motor repair experience is a strong plus
  • Experience with balancing, vibration analysis, alignment, welding, or electrical testing is a plus
  • Ability to work safely around large industrial equipment
  • Willingness to occasionally work overtime or weekends when needed
  • Willingness to occasionally travel to customer locations for field service
  • Ability to maintain a clean and safe work area
  • Personal hand tools and toolbox required [clarify what Louis Allis provides]
